Session 7? - the Birthday Party
in which the characters attend a party to obtain more intelligence, during which they meet a most unusual lady...
The beginning of the previous session was spent dealing with the characters' newly-acquired knowledge about demon possessions. They traveled to the other two nearby areas that experiences the sheep mutilations and hunted up some demons, finding and destroying them as best they could.
That action zoomed from montage to action when they discovered essentially a house-full of possessed persons. They battled and then freed the people from demonic possession.
At some point, the spirit sharing Miss Croft's body recognized the soldiers in Norwich as Coldstream Guard, the "Home Guard" in service of the Queen, generally stationed in London.
Through Miss Forsythe's social socializing (she met one of the soldiers in a bar or something), the team discovered there soon would be a party for Lieutenant Davies, the explanation for why a dozen of the Guard are in Norwich at all. They decided that they needed to know just what clandestine thing was happening, to better determine whether and how to deal with it.
At the party they met a lady Westin and her retinue. She claimed to be a childhood friend to one of the soldiers at the party who had since married rich. The story seemed like a crock, but the lady also seemed to have supernatural influence powers.
Part of why she gained notice is that her staff were pretty clearly criminals intent upon casing the house in which the party was taking place. Mary pointed this out to the lady of the house, and Ada pointed it out to Lieutenant Davies. When word reached Lady Westin, she took her butler outside to discipline him. Mr. Turnbull followed along, and very nearly witness discipline become something else, as Westin's head and torso split as if she were about to consume the butler whole. Luckily, Turnbull intervened, and everyone went back to the house without much more fuss.
Ada Grace poked around nosily, which is necessary, and found out the time and I am pretty sure location of a meeting between the soldiers and some other party.
The session ended with Lady Westin and her staff leaving, and being followed by the player characters.
